Final draw held in Cape Town on 4 December 2009
The 4th December 2009 was a most exiting day for South Africa when the South African actress Charlize Theron, born in Benoni near Johannesburg, was co-presenter of the historical moment on Friday’s World Cup draw in Cape Town South Africa. The final draw was broadcast live around the globe to tens of thousands TV viewers which starting at 7pm SA time.
Other sporting celebrities such as England’s David Bechham, the marathon champion Haile Gebrselassie, South African cricketer Makhaya Ntini as well as the African football legend Roger Milla and the African football legend Roger Milla lend further glamour to the event.
At the same time, Fifa has announced that the winners of the 2010 World Cup will be paid a sum of $30-million and the runners-up will receive $24-million. All participating teams will receive an extra $1 million to cover their preparation costs.
