Description:
MSC Sinfonia, is the finest passenger liner to visit South African shores. It docked in the Durban deep sea harbour for the start of its summer cruise season.
The magnificent ship's arrival was celebrated at a glittering reception.
In keeping with maritime custom, a traditional Exchange of Crests ceremony was carried out by officials of the South African government, the port authorities and the ship's captain Ciro Pinto to mark the occasion.
The cruise liner will conduct a full schedule of long and short cruises to Mozambique and the Indian Ocean islands of Madagascar, Comores, Mauritius and Reunion until April 2010.
CEO of MSC Cruises Pierfrancesco Vago said that confidence in his product and the South African market was the motivation behind the decision to deploy MSC Sinfonia to South Africa. He continues saying "We are so confident of continued growth in the cruise ship industry that we have confirmed a second 2010/2011 season for her" he said.
SINFONIA passengers are promised all possible entertainment on board, with artists from the United Kingdom, Australia, Ukraine, Brazil, Italy, Spain and South Africa.
Those who enjoy more of a local flavour should look out for the special theme cruises, which will have additional South African guest artists performing on board.
