Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park
The eco-tourist attraction of Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park is situated in a World Heritage Site.
As part of the Drakensberg mountain range you can indulge the freedom of vast open spaces where there are many steep peaks and towering sandstone cliffs with deep valleys, unspoiled forests and crystal clear rivers.
In this area tourists will find the following interesting attractions:
Amphitheatre at Royal Natal fomous for it’s scenery of Cobhan and Lotheni in the southern Drakensberg.
Giants Cup Hiking Trail with it’s rock art sites to view and rigors rock-climbing, fly fishing and mountain biking.
There are also facilities for camping, hiking, bird watching, swimming, riding , photography.
Accommodation is available in the Royal Natal and Giant Castle luxury lodges and scenic camping sites. Also available are mountain huts and over-night caves.
The area can be accessed with self drive of to hours from both Durban and Johannesburg. It is situated at a altitude of 3000m and the range span 150kms on 243000 ha.
Durban international airport is approximately three hours' drive away from the Berg.
