  Human Rights Day [21 March]

  Good Friday [10 April]

  Family Day [Easter Monday - 13 April]

  Freedom Day [27 April]

  Worker's Day [1 May]

  Youth Day [16 June]

  National Women's Day [9 August]

  Heritage Day [24 September]

  Day of Reconciliation [16 December]

  Christmas [25 December]

  Day of Goodwill [26 December]

For 2009, the following are also public holidays:


  22 April - President Kgalema Motlanthe has declared 22 April 2009 as a public holiday throughout the Republic. The declaration was made in terms of Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act 1994 (Act No. 36 of 1994) due to elections taking place.

  10 August (as National Women's Day falls on a Sunday).
